Creativity and research in the Basque Country
As part of World Creativity and Innovation Day 2026, we’re bringing the Konexioak projects to the radio to discuss research, creativity and impact. On the programme “A vivir que son dos días”, we spoke to Raquel Durán, Creative Director at Estudio Gueada, about how to create liquid surfaces for interactive installations; Nuria López, an undergraduate student at Musikene, presented her vision of accessible music and technology for diversity; and Ruth Mayoral, Head of Higher Education Programmes at Euskampus Fundazioa, called for a celebration of true creativity: as a capacity, a process and an industry.
Solutions Laboratory
For the second edition of Konexioak_Lab, we have joined forces with El Santo Films, Alda2U and Hika Teatroa to address industry challenges, which present an opportunity for greater social and regional contribution. During the October–November bootcamp, multidisciplinary teams of students will explore copper as a central theme in a soundtrack; design new approaches to care in settings such as cohousing; and attempt to measure the emotion and impact of a performing arts production beyond the applause.
Other ways of doing
Is it possible to combine entrepreneurship, training, urban planning and technology to boost the creative industries? That is precisely what Magelis does. The media cluster in the Charente region of Nouvelle-Aquitaine brings together more than 200 companies and 15 internationally recognised higher education institutions in the fields of animation, video games, comics and film. It has been one of the partners in the first Euroregional Hub for a sustainable audiovisual sector, led by KSIgune, and shares its vision of excellence in audiovisual creation.
Regional Skills Partnership
KSIgune brings together 27 higher education and university institutions, as well as numerous organisations working to foster the development of transformative talent in the Basque Country through educational innovation. This work has been recognised by the European Commission as the first Regional Skills Partnership for the cultural and creative sectors. This opens the door to raising awareness in Europe of our ecosistemic approach, and of the excellent training and research available in the Basque Country; and to collaborating on projects beyond our borders.
